I appreciate what the game is trying to do but it doesn't seem to work. I played the campaign on medium a few times and on easy a few times. It's impossible to win for me.. This one is a hidden gem, as far as it goes for tactical RPGs. The system really works in here, meaning that through the careful planning, well-thought army building process (like picking the "right" perks, or proper squad composition) you can face seemingly impossible odds - and win. And it feels darn good!Also, don't get the wrong idea about the setting here - yes, it's disgustingly colourful in here, and you are playing... yuck... elves... BUT! But, even thou you start as "oh no, evil mage stole a mighty spell, let's bring him to justice...!", things quickly turn a little dark... As in "Genocide? YeeaaAAHH, FOR POWAAAH!!" dark. And lastly, there's a big complain about turn limit - which you should totally ignore. First of all, it's not "be quick or lose" scenario, as you have more then enough time to achieve bronze or even silver victory, even if you'll take your time proceeding ahead. Second, the gold victory is perfectly reachable without cheating and modifying turn limits for missions (which you can also easy do, with a build-in editor). It's a bit of a challenge, and maybe you wont be able to get all the extra artifacts scattered around the map - but it's meant to be that way. It balances the game, giving you choice. And it's not even so hard the get it as it seems at first. Aside from two early maps, I was able to get that gold rating quite reliably. On top of that all, the game, or rather whole series of games, starting with "fantasy wars", is laughably cheap. If you're into tactical games - definitely give it a try, as it deserves one!. If you want a good turn based war game that will challege you, this is it.All your units gain experiance as they are involved in battles, and level up. With each level you can chose new abilities that make them stronger. Each senario is graded gold silver or bronze based on how many turns it takes you to finish it. Along with the rating comes a bonus in a new unit, or gold, so there is reason to want to finsh with gold. Also, if you finsih some senarios with gold, it opens up bonus senario's. Be warned getting a gold finsih can some times be insanly hard.The Graphics and sound do the job. The story line is ok, but nothing special. The voice acting is cheesy, but in the end is is a great single player war game.. The gameplay is solid, its like an indie version of warhammer. Has a decent story and graphics, as well as good voice acting.Biggest problems I have is the turn limits and difficulty spikes in some of the missions. Worth picking up and running on hard mode if you are into strategy games.. i have no idea why i bought this game.... Fun game. I played about 100 hours, so i got my moneys worth.. I admit that I didn't play this game as long as I maybe should have, but right from the start I could see that this game would enrage the completionist in me. No way to explore the battle map and take my time, as well as get the necessary benefits of a 'Gold' win. Of course I can see how this game could really fit into another person's play style. It's not a bad game, just not what I had hoped for as far as strategy or RPG.. So the game is "fun" but that fun is reduced in turns. I just want to sit down battle with some units, against some other units and win! But, no.... your turns are limited, so you can't just sit down and enjoy the game, NO you ahve to play MLG style, rush past all the battles DONT take time to think and strategize! NO just rush rush rush....intead I uninstalled!. This is a good turn-based game but too hard. Even in easy mode, I still can't finish this game so I cheat 29000 gold to complete it. (The last 3rd mission cost 7000, last 2nd cost 7000, and the last cost 15000 gold) Even this 29k gold still doesn't make the game an easy cake. I mean if you are not careful, you will spend more than 29K!If anyone has trouble, just press "~" to open chat window, and then type cheat1000gold, then enter, then u can get 1k gold repeatedly. Hope it helps someone who wanna to see the last scene movie.
