No multiplayer modes may turn some people away, but aside from that the game still holds up very well even after over 10 years.. This game has some weird FPS issues, like it wants to run at 61fps - it's not smooth!. Also reading the game reviews on Steam there is other bugs too. I mean, c'mon man its 2018 surely we can have a glitch free version of Space Invaders! No proper vsyncing and no resolution scaling = REFUND.. Works pretty well. Brings back memories. Only used the keyboard controls. Not sure if it's good with a controller. Highly recommended though if you like space invaders.. Oh my god this game was my childhood back on the DS. To find out that it was back and that Taito wasn't a dead corporation was one of the best things I've heard all year. The visuals have been touched up and the audio has been remastered and it makes the game so much better! Controls were simple and easy to understand. I've recieved no frame-drops, no lag, no nothing! This game runs smooth af! I love this. I love everything about this. Get this game. It is WORTH EVERY PENNY.I really hope that Taito will remaster Space Invaders Extreme 2 and put that on Steam as well!. I loved the original Space Invaders Extreme when it released on the DS. This version does improve the sound and graphics but they changed some of how it plays and also made changes to some of the levels. Still, this is a very fun game. If you have not played it before, I really suggest that you give it a shot. The combination of the gameplay and the integrated music is addicting. A geat innovation on the old classic Space Invaders game play. It is one of the best games Taito released last decade. The only issue that I really have is that it is now always online, unlike the original portable game. Why? It also does not have the multiplayer mode. Seems weird to add an online requirement but then remove multiplayer. Note: I got the game on sale, not at full price.. It's space invaders with a modern lick of paint... retro design and feel means it's enough like the classic to still be called space invaders but with enough level variations and power ups to feel varied enough for modern tastes. It is slickly presented, sound is good and it's all about chasing those high scores.
